Etimología

Chalybura: Griego, khalups, khalubos -acero; oura -cola.
buffoni: George-Louis Leclerc Conde de Buffon (1707–1788) naturalista Francés, Director del Jardin du Roi en Paris.

Estado de conservación

Identificación

El macho es de color verde metálico oscuro. Cola azul oscuro. Posee un grupo de plumas secundarias blancas. Pico y patas negras. La hembra es similar, pero su vientre, pecho y mentón son totalmente blancos.
